In Honor of Black In Tokyo’s 1 year anniversary, Melanin Unscripted Founder Amarachi Nwosu teams up with Bae Tokyo and Ultra Super New Gallery on a Black History month photo exhibition and screening in Tokyo, Japan under their Made By She series. Her exhibition ‘Black In Tokyo’ will commemorate the expansion of black narratives and the act of taking ownership by creating new stories that shape black history. The Exhibition will include a photo story shot in Cape, Coast Ghana called Sankofa and Amarachi’s Black In Tokyo documentary. This will mark the first time since the films release that it is screened in Japan and with Japanese translation.
Melanin Unscripted teams up with Budweiser to produce BUDXLagos with legendary Nigerian-American Hip-Hop Photographer and Documentarian Chi Modu for a 2-day photo exhibition, party and workshop in Lagos, Nigeria on December 1st and 2nd. Continuing Chi Modu’s “Uncategorized” photo exhibition tour, this will mark Chi’s homecoming exhibition in Nigeria and will be the first time he will exhibit his work on the continent of Africa. This will also be the first BUDX to strictly cover Hip Hop in Africa. Register at BUDX.NG
Melanin Unscripted will be hosting the Exposing New Narratives panel in Lagos, Nigeria with Musician- Maleek Berry, owner of ALARA- Reni Folawiyo, Director- Grace Ladoja and Stylist- Adebayo Okelawal as panelists. The event was created as a means to inspire, promote and create resources for young creatives in Nigeria and dedicated to allowing young West Africans to see their vital role within the international creative industry.
Melanin Unscripted will be hosting the International premiere of Black In Tokyo on November 16th from 6:30-8pm at Bowery Gallery, ICP (International Center Of Photography).
